If you want to stop the wars, stop voting for the politicians who vote to start or keep them going. After all, the American military doesn't just go out and kill people. People like Bush and Obama have to order us to do so and Congress has to approve the funding. All are elected.

So, next time someone claims to hate the drone wars and US military intervention around the world, ask them who they voted for. If it Obama, just remind them that they voted for it. Just like the Bushites did.

If they give the specious argument that they didn't vote for it and don't agree with it, same retort. "Then why did you vote for a President or Congress person that continues to perpetuate American wars and military intervention around the world?"

If the pathetic excuse of, "Why doesn't the military just ignore orders?" as if the military has a choice, ask the people of Chile after 1973 or Argentina after 1976. Or any number of victims of military coup and junta rule around the world just exactly why they don't want the military making decisions independent of civilian control. Those reasons add up to a few million dead people in the twentieth century alone.

And don't forget the cats...

"Not as bad" is acceptable in some cases but when it comes to killing people to look "tough" it's a No Sale for me.

We are very destructive, and have no consideration for other living things that must share this planet with us. Now we're leaving our trash to float around in space. I think NASA and the private sector companies that shoot objects into space ought to be responsible for cleaning up their garbage when they're through.

She'll have to get past one of our cats who likes to sleep on the bed.

The other cat is sleeping on my lap at the moment.

but most humans don't count the animals who lived in the old forests we raze, or all the interesting lifeforms in the giant swaths of the oceans that we're turning into dead zones.
The disgustingly shameful factory farms kill BILLIONS, not mere "millions."

But I LOVE this anyway. I hope sharks make it through our mass-extinction bottleneck later this century.

it's the microbial parasites she shares with you that can do you in. All she wants is a meal for her offspring.

We've only been on the planet for maybe a few million years tops. And in our present form less than that. And there's a good possibility we won't be around much longer. Dinosaurs lived and reigned for hundreds of millions of years. THAT'S a successful species.

Nah, I'm only kidding. Everybody knows that the Earth is only 6000 years old and we walked side by side with dinosaurs.

Let's make it less likely by expanding the human presence throughout the universe...first, by colonizing the Solar System and then (thinking looooong term here) the galaxy.

I am not sure why people are so concerned about mankind becoming extinct.

The planet may be better off without us living on it.
