Source: MLive
MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, MI -- Cameras that soon will be installed in the classrooms of Muskegon Heights High School will help administrators track teacher effectiveness as well as provide more security, according to a school official.
Its part of our instructional model, said Alena Zachery-Ross, regional vice president of Mosaica Education Inc., which operates the charter school. In order to talk specifically about whats happening in the classroom with the teachers, we can look at the cameras and talk about lessons with the teachers.
The more than 40 cameras, the wiring for which was installed during the schools holiday break, also will help with security, Zachery-Ross said. Thats why they are going into the high school first when typically Mosaica uses them with lower grade levels, she said.
Cameras probably will be installed next year at the three other Muskegon Heights schools the company operates, Zachery-Ross said.

This is a little old, but I only heard about this today on MPR.
I like this comment (comments section): So as not to be hypocritical and to be a good role model for the corporation's teachers, Ms. Zachery-Ross should propose to the Mosaica Board of Directors that a camera be placed in her own office so her employers can be assured that she is using best managerial practices. - from-the-back-porch

I don't agree with it. It's nerve wracking.
If parents are concerned, let them make the arrangements to come in person.
BTW, "effectiveness" can't be measured or observed. It's up to the kid to learn, if capable.

I can't imagine how uncomfortable it would feel to be recorded day in and day out.
I feel for these teachers and students.
