The Senate confirmed the former Republican senator from Nebraska 58-41, with four Republicans joining Democrats to support the nomination. GOP Sens. Rand Paul of Kentucky, Thad Cochran of Mississippi, Mike Johanns of Nebraska, Richard C. Shelby of Alabama voted in favor.

3. Very surprised about Rand Paul & Shelby

But am not as familiar with Cochran..he's not on TV as much as the other two. Am shocked that McCain didn't vote for Hagel. I thought he said that he would.

McCain covers his butt no matter what the vote is..just like with Hagel he was hollering about anyone criticizing a war veteran wounded twice, blah, blah..and a paragraph of empty phrases for poor Chuck, then votes against his nomination. No wonder the government is screwed up.

4. Shelby and Cochran = Alabama and Mississippi = Navy shipyards and AF bases.
