Would the Tea Party even be in existence if Hillary had been elected?
I think the answer is no. The 1% could not have found a such a fanatical extreme base unless they could extract a huge racist element from the general population.

(102,292 posts)Hillary Clinton is smart, independent and and an aging (if, IMO, elegant, older woman)... The teabaggers could handle a flirty thick-headed, racist, and slobbering their hate-filled talking points-type female, like Sarah Palin (that they always assumed would be the underling to a male in office). But at their core, the majority really have little more tolerance for women than they do racial minorities.

(16,846 posts)about Bill and Hillary since Obama became Pres., but some of us remember very well all the nasty shit the Republicans accused the Clintons of when Bill was in office. All this praise that Republicans have given the Clintons is nothing more than an attempt to divide the Democratic Party. They're saying, "If you had just elected Hillary instead of Obama, we would all be getting along just fine." If Hillary was in office, they would have another inquisitor like Ken Star around digging through Hillary's underwear drawer.

(8,515 posts)Im just saying it would probably been a more formalized republican attack which would have been miles apart from what we are experiencing from this group of ignorant racists!!

(3,335 posts)aimed at Hillary Clinton just in time for the beginning of the 2008 presidential primaries, and the person lead by David Bossie who was spent a great deal of time doing Opposition Research for the Republicans when Bill Clinton was President. I think he also played a role in bringing Paula Jones and her bogus lawsuit against President Clinton to the public's attention. They were all ready to lower the boom on Hillary should she have won the nomination, with their 'movie' but were barred from doing so when a judge ruled that the 'movie' was a political ad and not a 'movie' and had to be treated in accordance with FEC regulations.

(37,161 posts)The racism component of their rage-fuel would be reduced, but they'd pretty much make up for it in eagerness to refight the Clinton wars all over again, this time with the one they hated worse than Bill.
The configuration wouldn't be exactly the same, but the results would be in the same ballpark. They ripped the brakes off the crazy train in '94, and have picked up speed ever since. They won't stop until they send it off a cliff at full tilt.
