BWAHAHAHA! Newt sued for using Survivor's "Eye Of The Tiger" (from "Rocky III") at political events

Newt Gingrich is being sued by the company which owns the rights to the 1982 song, "Eye of the Tiger" -- claiming Newt had no right to use it as part of his campaign.

Rude Music Inc. -- owned by a member of the band Survivor -- filed the suit today in federal court in Illinois ... claiming Newt has jacked the song made famous in "Rocky III" to push his political agenda.

According to the lawsuit, Newt has been using the song at various political events since 2009.

In the suit, Rude Music claims Gingrich used the song at the Conservative Political Action Conference in 2009, 2010 and 2011 ... as well as the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in 2010.

...and maybe he could have gotten Victoria Jackson to play guitar and sing:

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and caldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg, and owlet's wing,—
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

I think a necessary prerequisite to filing a lawsuit is a "cease and desist" letter, informing the person that he's using copyrighted material without permission, and threatening a suit if it continues. Apparently this is part of a pattern and practice for Newton. Will any future debate moderator have the courage to ask the candidate about this?

As soon as Gingrich drops out of the race (and he WILL drop out of the race) he will declare bankruptcy.
Until then he will incur as many debts as he feels like and whoever is owed money can go to hell.
After all, he's a rethuglican and rethuglicans have no idea what personal accountability is.

Didn't know that.

Maybe you remember this, but I always thought it was interesting that the ad campaign started out as 'Real American Heroes' but quickly changed to 'Real Men of Genius' 9/11. I assume that was because given the sacrifices that firefighters, police etc. made on that day, it might not look good calling 'Mr. Outside the Stadium Peanut Seller' an American hero.

and Lee Greenwood songs to go around. Everyone knows that musicians are in the pocket of the elite left wing East coast establishment so what's an asshole repuke like Newt to do?

He must steal content in order to have entrance music, every WWE fan knows that if you've got shitty entrance music you're not going to win the big matches.

From Springsteen ripping Reagan in '84 for using "Born in the USA" to the Wilson sisters raising six kinds of holy hell - with good reason - about Mooselini using "Barracuda" four years ago, they just don't get it.
