"Toddlers & Tiaras" mom sues media for sexualizing daughter

'Toddlers' mom sues media for sexualizing daughter

She's not sexy and she doesn't know it!

That's what "Toddlers & Tiaras" pageant mom Susanna Barrett insists about her 5-year-old glam princess Isabella. Barrett claims that after a video of her little girl singing LMFAO's "I'm Sexy and I Know It" at a night spot surfaced, several media outlets tried to turn the non-sexual performance into something inappropriate, and she's suing mad.

According to the New York Daily News, Barrett filed a $30 million libel lawsuit on Tuesday in Manhattan. She claims that TMZ, The Huffington Post and the Daily Mail described the little girl's act as "gyrating in a nightclub and singing about her sex appeal" when in fact Isabella was sitting during the song.

&quot Isabella) did not understand the concept of sex, let alone 'sex appeal' and could not have been singing about her own sex appeal," Barrett said in her lawsuit. Instead, "it is the defendants who, through their articles, have thrust these false and vulgar characteristics on to Isabella," according to the suit. "As a result, Isabella is now perceived sexually, erotically and pornographically, and (the stories) have placed Isabella in serious physical danger, attracting the attention of others who would seek to sexualize a child."

Not long after the video surfaced, Barrett defended Isabella's videotaped performance to TMZ. She explained that the little girl was at New York's Libation for a pet charity event and started singing when the DJ invited her up, but that they left at the reasonable hour of 9 p.m.

"attracting the attention of others who would seek to sexualize a child."

Like her fucked up mother who would dress her five year old daughter up like a stripper and then put her on national TV.

without the consent of the mother? That's really terrible. The media's behavior just gets more and more despicable. I hope the mother wins her suit.

the kid the song with the sexy lyrics? Who thought it was cute that she sing it? That's where the "not appropriate" began....

And when you heard what she was singing, why didn't you put a stop to it? Don't you think you'd have a bit more credibility if you were also suing the club?

YOU'RE the one who's being "false" and "vulgar," Mrs. Barrett. But for your actions, there would have been no performance to BE videotaped -- case dismissed!

Didn't this mom *sign off* on a contract to begin with? To basically (and in essence) grant authority to exploit her child to begin with?

And now what - she is suddenly *shocked*?

Don't get me wrong, I do not condone this show AT ALL and wonder just how in the world it has even lasted for so long (and actually, just why the N.O.W. hasn't stepped up to the plate to get this awful show banned after all these many seasons already!) when you consider a bit of the 'behind the scenes' mentality from some of these *parents* from the movie: "Bruno"

Not to imply that this Barrett character is guilty of such...but you know, I have to wonder just WHY ANYONE would want to engage in this sort of child exploitative crap to begin with?????

If anything, (which ever way it turns out...) I hope this case is instrumental in eventually bringing down this STUPID SHOW once and for all. It is just plain STUPID and appeals to (whether you want to believe it or not) the many pedophiles out there who really get off on all this "Toddlers & Tiaras" mess!

Shame, shame, shame all the way around for ALL THE IDIOTIC ADULTS aka *PARENTS* condoning this crap on behalf of all these innocent children that have no say so in this STUPID, EXPLOITATIVE, INTENTIONAL pursuit!!!!

If Barrett is looking for a lawsuit, I would venture to say that she ought to wait about 15 or 20 years when her daughter, Isabella will want to SUE HER for gross negligence and emotional child abuse from intentionally putting her in harms way!

That song should never have been sung by a 5 year old. Parents don't want their kids to be cute, without wigs and false teeth so they dress them up in ridiculous garb and hair styles and tell them to sashay on stage. The Mom will say, "She love to do this," and all we see is the child crying and refusing to do what Mom says. This particular woman should not have put her daughter in this position. Maybe the articles are exaggerated but it never would have happened if Mom did not put her daughter is such a position. LET KIDS BE KIDS!

that some attorney will help a father get custody of his daughter from any "mother" who would even let her kid watch such a show, much less participate in it.
