But I'm telling you that, in situations like this, a photon torpedo straight up the tailpipe is the maneuver called for in the Starfleet Academy combat doctrine. Actually, Spock did make Captain....and supposedly the ears are an evolutionary thing, according to Trek lore. Because of Vulcan's higher gravity and thinner atmosphere, the shape helps to gather sound.

I don't explain it, I just report it. I'm still trying to understand how you'd have a thinner atmosphere on a planet with higher gravity.

Not quicker but, in the long term, better.
