(14,881 posts)We've been getting snow and snow mixed with rain for about a week now. Got another inch or so last night. More due tomorrow, Thursday and Friday. It's cloudy out right now, but we're getting a reprieve at least for the moment.
Oops. Reprieve over. When I wrote this it wasn't snowing out front, but I just saw it is snowing out back. And even as I'm typing, it's moved to the front.

(14,910 posts)Snow, from a farmer's perspective is a wonderful thing. A decent winter snowcover acts to aid nitrogren fixation; which will allow farmer's to use less chemicals this upcomming season. Orchard growers are also affected by the lack of cold nights lately. Sugar maple harvests have been abysmal in recent years as well...
It's all coming full-circle; and those who will act completely shocked will be the one's who will be able to afford to shelter it's affects. Millions will be added to the intolerable suffering that is already ocurring.

(22,845 posts)And it's expected to be "heavy, wet snow" which will probably squash all the tiny crocuses that are blooming.

(2,173 posts)When a storm slows down it grows in intensity. I think I found the key to the snow blower. I might need it. If it isn't the right key, I'll just hot-wire it.

(12,296 posts).... I really want to leave work early today & work from home tomorrow, so if it snows like a bitch from 5 pm - 5 am, that'd be a good thing.
