Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell joined his fellow colleague from Kentucky, Rand Paul, on Wednesday night in filibustering the nomination of John Brennan as director of the Central Intelligence Agency.
McConnell offered no hints as to his view on the administration's policy on targeted killing as it relates to United States soil, the issue Paul has been filibustering over, but he added that he will oppose cloture should it be invoked.

I wonder if he will post a new one every time a goper joins the filibuster, with the copy-pasted "OMG can't believe you would side with ___(R)" every time.

These guys are playing progressives by creating a strawman argument that the President is claiming the authority (and planning to use it) to deploy drones "arbitrarily" against US citizens while they sit having dinner at an outdoor restaurant in the middle of hometown USA. (They concede the President can use lethal force in the US against US citizens to defend against ongoing attacks, so they need to have a scary monster -- so its the attack while you chow down on your Big Mac (apparently because you demanded extra pickles) that they are relying on. The fact that is ridiculous bullshit is sad. The fact that its being bought into by some here is even sadder.

(46,416 posts)assassinations on American soil, because it's illegal. Either way, this is the same GOP filibuster obstruction bullshit they pulled two weeks ago, but everyone seems to have forgotten it.

(25,026 posts)Of course it is bullshit obstruction but the nominee should be obstructed so it is pitiful to allow them to be caught doing the right thing regardless of it being a phony ass game to the asshole brigade.
Democrats should be reining in Obama's terrible appointments themselves.

(3,145 posts)it was DEMOCRATIC senators who filibustered him (yeah, right, like THAT would ever have happened) -- they would be considered heroes.
Well, Brennan is still the foul, stinking POS that he was then as a Bush minion. The only difference is that he has been nominated by Bush's Democratic successor -- to Obama's everlasting shame.
If that means REPUBLICANS have to filibuster Brennan -- so be it. Just think of it -- I mean, they let Hagel and Kerry go through!
