This makes no sense as an attack on Rand Paul, but it is a fine mode of attack on certain Democrats, which is the point.
Skepticism about executive power must be throttled because the chief executive is a Democrat.
If that changes then we will find that we were never at war with eastasia, but for the moment "the hippies" are the enemy and thus the Rand Paul daily hate provides a good way to attack the hippies... for things the hippies do not think. (Rand Paul is worthy of hate, but as a freakshow splinter within the Republican Party is actually more of a problem for them and not a plausible daily-hate candidate if the objective was anti-Republican rather than anti-leftist)
