A chain e-mail (what else?) posted by my Aunt, who has lived a life of debauchery but has "discovered Jesus" in her frickin' SIXTIES, on her Facebook page. Here we go again, with the poor, downtrodden Christians being victimized.

(9,933 posts)We should be busy applauding Rand Paul for pretending to oppose something democrats claim to oppose but never give any time or energy to actually opposing. Meanwhile we should ignore the ongoing attack on what little remains of the New Deal, our crumbling infrastructure, deteriorating environment and unemployment.

(29,414 posts)I knew they had moved the motto to the edge, but didn't know Congress had instructed them to move it back to the face. I guess too many "Christians" complained that it wasn't in everyone's face like before, and had to have it back. I would guess, too, that they sighed in immense relief at seeing it so prominently displayed again. Which also sucks because it meant the US Mint had to not only redesign the imagery but re-do the machinery.
I wonder if the complainers would have weighed those costs against having their precious religious motto in place again? Maybe we should find out and tell them they just foisted government waste on the rest of us just to satisfy their government-sponsored religious idolatry.

(9,933 posts)remotely religious my mother rediscovered her catholic roots in her 60s too. Now her house is covered with religious icons and she claims to be very dedicated to her religion. Every once in a while she will send one of these forwarded emails to me too pointing out how horrible it is that religion is under attack. It's pretty tiring isn't it?

(3,784 posts)Before 1950, NONE of the money in this country had "In God We Trust" on it. There was a picture depicting this that I saw just a few days ago, but now I can't find it.
