Source to Fox: Ashley Judd moving forward with run for Mitch McConnell's Senate seat in Kentucky

Ashley Judd has yet to officially announce her political aspirations, but a source with intimate knowledge of the situation tells FOX411's Pop Tarts column the actress is preparing herself to challenge Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell for his Kentucky seat in 2014.

"At least in Ashley's mind, it is happening," said the insider. "She has devoted herself to many important causes and stepped away from the Hollywood spotlight so this seems like the logical next step. I don't know if she will be successful, but her heart is in the right place."

Judd, 44, has reportedly been meeting with well-financed Democratic donors, and last week ventured to Washington D.C for more public engagements.According to Don Peebles, Chairman and CEO of The Peebles Corporation, a member of President Obama's National Finance Committee, and Vice-Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, a Judd run is likely much more than a Hollywood fantasy.

"There looks to be a lot of noise around her running and she's been active in commenting on politics of the day so it is certainly possible," he said. "Senate Minority Leader McConnell's approval ratings are low, and a lot of reports show that he is vulnerable to a challenge. While Kentucky leans right, it is not as conservative as most of its neighbors and the voters of Kentucky may be looking to send a message that they don't feel fairly represented by Minority Leader McConnell."

So is Judd's move from Hollywood star to thoughtful humanitarian impressive enough for Kentuckians to take her seriously?

Which means that Judd will have to overcome some of her stands on "God, gunz, and gays". Not recant the stands necessarily, but her campaign WILL lose if the election boils down to ONLY those issues and those types of issues.

Just like any southern politician, she's got to go left populist. Dust off and update Huey Long's speeches. Then she might have a chance.

after all any one of the Congress critters is representing me too. I like the part where they say her heart is in the right place, thats all that really matters.

Ashley Judd ‘seriously considering’ run for Senate, says Kentucky governor
Posted by Aaron Blake on March 5, 2013 at 3:57 pm

Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear (D) said at a news conference Tuesday that he has spoken with actress Ashley Judd and that he thinks she’s looking hard at running for Senate.

“I talked to her again the other day. She called me, and we had a good conversation,” Beshear said at a news conference. “I would say without getting into the specifics of the conversation, I’m convinced that she is seriously considering a race for the United States Senate in the Democratic primary, and we’ll see where it goes.”

What I have seen is a stream of denegration of Judd because she's attractive and uses sex appeal, with little or no mention of her policy positions. Yet what does FOX do? They get women who are moderately attractive, overly made up, have big hair, and wear mini-dresses to do the criticism of strong women. See a problem here? They don't criticize McConnell for being unattractive, having no sex appeal (and probably no sex for that matter), being obstinate and only having one policy position - oppose anything Obama wants.

I hope she absolutely slaughters him in the election. He deserves to be humiliated and I'm not saying that because Judd's a woman. I mean he needs to be humiliated in an election by being crushed in the polls. I'm sure the gender thing would be a disaster for his male-oriented ego as well, but the election defeat is what would be sweet.
