South Carolina GOPer Calls Opposition To ‘The Black Guy In The White House’ Good Politics

South Carolina GOPer Calls Opposition To ‘The Black Guy In The White House’ Good Politics

At a meeting on Medicaid expansion under President Obama's health care law on Jan. 29 at the South Carolina Statehouse, state Rep. Kris Crawford (R) questioned whether the policy was politically feasible. From the Charleston Regional Business Journal:

Rep. Kris Crawford, a Republican from Florence and also an emergency room doctor, supports the expansion but expects the Republican caucus to vote as a block against the Medicaid expansion.

“The politics are going to overwhelm the policy. It is good politics to oppose the black guy in the White House right now, especially for the Republican Party,” Crawford said.

Glad someone else has reading comprehension. He supports the policy, but knows it will be tossed out because his party is full of racist assholes.

to me. I know some of you interpreted it differently, but the typical repub wouldn't be that candid unless fed up or disgusted with his colleagues.

He made his bed with those assholes knowing full well what they were like.

He doesn't have to be a Democrat, but until he supports policies that help those without, he can go to hell. He supports policies that make the poor poorer.

is a jackass who was convicted of failing to file tax returns for 3 years. He was given a 10k fine and whatever. He shouldn't even be seated, but as ethics problems go, his are minor compared to others.

I went to a constituent meeting one time and asked him a question about water rights. He tried to brush me off and got a twee bit mad when I persisted. He finally kept saying it was settled law. I told him it was no more setled than his ideas about it.

As a white resident of the capital city in South Carolina, my deepest apologies to all my American brothers and sisters. A few of us occupied the former Confederate capitol grounds back during the First National Occupations of 2011. Some among us were quite expert in our state's brand of cronyism, but local news routinely omitted that aspect from their shallow coverage. You have reason to be quite proud of us down hyeah in the big city-- in the main squares and places, you see all races and kinds at ease together in joviality and deep friendships. On the streets, the most unnecessary courtesies are enthusiastically extended and shared among all citizens. This despite our typical back-alley problems and our pitiful gangs and stray rednecks. Up there on that hill though-- seems many there were not so moved as the rest of us by the stories passed down of that Last Salute of the Army of Northern Virginia at Appomattox.

always seem to disregard the fact that Pres. Obama is 1/2 white. You'd think that the RWers would at least be somewhat less vile towards him, considering that he is biracial, but no; the One-Drop Rule trumps all.
