Firefighters battle Soldier Canyon Fire west of Fort Collins

Poudre Fire Authority firefighters are working to stop the spread of the wind-fueled Soldier Canyon Fire spreading near Lory State Park west of Fort Collins.

According to the Larimer County Sheriff’s office, at least 40 acres and one structure are involved in the wildfire. It is unknown if the structure is a house or another type of building, and the extent of fire damage it received, according to a release. No injuries have been reported.

At 1:30 p.m., the previously predominantly southbound wind shifted to the east, blowing the growing plume of smoke from the fire directly above the city of Fort Collins. Firefigters conversing on emergency radio traffic have said the fire has “fingered out” to various areas east of where it started.

I'm not much for snow but a few days of rain would be good.
Such is life in a high desert.

We have had a total of 3 inches this year. The Black Hills are down in their usual snow.
This is not going to be a good summer.
