There's Tax Revenue And Then There's 'Tax' Revenue - There Is Spending And Then There Is 'Spending'.

When the Repugs take their stand on revenue and taxes - they make it sound to the average American that the Dems are wanting to raise the taxes of the average American.

The revenue that the Dems are looking to get out of the Repugs really is revenue generated from closing tax loopholes, taxing the rich and making the corporations pay their fair share. The Dems aren't looking to generate new revenue by taxing the average Americans.

But when the Repugs talk about revenue and raising taxes - that point doesn't come out and to the average American that doesn't follow things closely - they think the Dems are looking to raise their taxes.

Why don't the Dems and the President be more vocal and make that point more? In my opinion I don't think they are making that point to the average American.

Almost the same thing with spending. When the Dems are talking spending they are talking about putting the money into things that generate jobs and will stimulate the economy. Things like infrastructure, alternative energies, education, etc.

Again - the Repugs talk of spending like the Dems want to spend money just for the sake of spending it and in programs that are wasteful or smack of handouts.

And again the Dems aren't really speaking up and actually saying where the spending will go and what it would do to stimulate the economy.

It also pisses me off that the Media - the talking heads - don't make those points either.

They just seem to go with the flow of the Repugs and kind of support the illusion the Repugs are making.

Also - why doesn't someone in the Media do a documentary on Social Security and Medicare. Show why these programs came into existence in the first place. Show how they benefit Americans and why these programs are important to us. And show how neither one of these programs is going broke and how they can be tweaked with just some slight adjustments - like raising the cap or single payer - to make them even more sound and better.

Someone needs to tell average Americans that these programs are not entitlements and that they are being paid for with their own money coming out of their paychecks.

I really don't think many American people have a good understanding of any of this - and if they did - they would be calling their Congressmen and Senators to support these programs.

Am I being too simplistic here? Am I off base with these thoughts?
