Just who is allowed under this tent anyway?

I want to see the guest list or the seating assignments. Do overweight people have to sit at a different table? How about Catholics? I used to hang out in this other tent you see, and I came over here awhile back because I heard the compassion was good. I just want to know what kind of people I will be partying with.

that's part of the point of a discussion forum, to come to a better understanding of one's own beliefs and positions. We all engage in cognitive dissonance and intellectual dishonesty at some time or another. It's helpful to be able to reconcile opposing beliefs we hold in our own minds for whatever reason; tradition, community, not wanting to rock the boat with family, etc.

It sometimes seems that anyone but liberals are welcome in the Democratic tent.

Probably because liberals are what the former Obam White House chief of staff called "not bright" but in somewhat less politically correct terms.

What it really is, is we treat each other like shit. If what we think, say and do to one another were played out as a modern battlefield it would be beyond words and imagination. The people closest to us, passerbys, people on a online forum. We treat each other like garbage. I have, I will, but I am trying, I am trying hard to understand. I am trying hard to change.

Including high taxations on foods high in sugars and carbs.

It's a real problem that can't be solved through individual action alone.

I'm also an atheist and I welcome any religious person under the tent as long as they're not homophobic, anti-choice, or anti-science. That's my only standards.

There are people that agree with you and people that disagree. People that think you shouldn't be in the tent and people that love that you are there. If you can stand to be with people that are all alike and have different ideas and perspectives than you will probably like the tent, if you don't than likely you will leave the tent. The tent is open and no one can force you in or out. They can shout or type with all their might but ultimately you and only you decide where you stand.

Did you mean to specifically complain that someone on DU is a judgmental jerk? Oh wow, and that means ALL democrats are also judgmental jerks?

Anyway, I'm sorry some DUer was an insensitive idiot, but that doesn't give you any justification to broad-brush democrats in general as being ungracious or exclusive to catholics or overweight people.
