She went to New Jersey to talk to and interview victims of hurricane Sandy. You know real dyed in the wool Freeper types who don't want anymore taxes and who insist that government is too big and spending is too much. She asked about a dozen of them what spendings they would want cut. She goes down a list of Sandy relief, Social Security, Medicare, Education, etc. etc.. Every single one of them said no. Finally, it turns out that the only spending they want to cut is Congresses salaries and some other miniscule thing I can't remember.
It was hilarious and yet pathetic at the same time. I don't know how to capture the videos and put them up here, but I hope someone does. That segment was classic. Actually, it was a pretty good show all around and even the token Republican had to back off many of his statements.
Update: Thanks to ProfessionalLeftist for posting this:

(65,340 posts)percentage of our budget that it almost doesn't even register. It dropped from 2.7% in 1965 to about 0.7% in 2010. Cutting foreign aid would not do anything to reduce the deficit or the debt!

with repercussions of Sandy, so thanks!

(171,065 posts)One friend and her family had to rent another home until FEMA kicks in.
Houses are gutted, sitting there waiting for help. This is the situation for 3 friends I know. It was life changing for so many. Another friend's home burned down; I think they're going to rebuild, but who knows when.

(579 posts)get Bill Maher. We switched to Showtime and were still able to see him on demand, but now they took that away. He's witty and so on the money, and isn't afraid to say it. If the video is on the internet, I'd like to see it.

(75,480 posts)because I think this was a clip of a larger documentary she's working on. I'm sure some intrepid tech savvy DUer will know how to get it.

(14,128 posts)She seems very snarky. Her "Diary of a Political Tourist" special was a joke.
There others that do it better without the mean-spirited ness.
Cleita
(75,480 posts)She isn't snarky although she could have been. She just asked straightforward reporter type questions and let the people speak for themselves.

(753 posts)Not because I wouldn't want their pay to be deducted, but rather that was all he could come up with. The part is that they don't want safety nets messed w/ and yet that is all Reps want to do. These are the same ppl that will picket to remove Obamacare, but don't see the good it will bring them....
