Why should Romney care about the poor?

He can never relate..

He's never had t worry about where he was going to get money from to put food on the table...

Dig in the corners of the sofa looking for loose change so you can put gas in the car to go work..

Out of touch? No, the rich look after their own...

Then again, it seems to me that if you are really poor, then you don't own a car, and I have been there. But I didn't really want a car, so I didn't really feel poor. I used to joke "I am a rich man, I own TWO bicycles." Actually pretty nice bikes too - Treks anyway. Not top of the line by any stretch, but not $75 Huffies either.

Not even when I only made $590 a month, which I did for a year and then I made $610 a month for the next year and $810 a month for the next year. And only worked, or got paid, for 10 months those three years.

I don't understand how people tolerate living paycheck to paycheck. It would freak me out to live without a safety net. In my almost fifty years of life I have lived without electricity, without hot water, without running water, without central heat, mostly for those 14 months I lived in a trailer in my own woods, but also in the city with the water or gas shut off, but not without at least $1,000 in the bank (except perhaps for six months or so, because I do remember a time when I was $30 short and had a mortgage payment to make and then a customer came into my store, half an hour after I meant to close, and spent $40 - that must have been a lower point in my reserves which probably took a few years to get built up. In fact, that was 1993 I guess and I remember in 1997 when I went from $5.50 an hour to $7.15 an hour at my job. I was like, wow, what a difference that made in my life. I could pay ahead on my mortgage and also accumulate money in the bank. But that was after 1995 when I had bought a car that I paid off in just three months too. But I am sure I always had reserves in savings, that one time probably happened because in previous months I had paid too much ahead on my building. I think I had the option of paying interest only that month, but really did not want to do it.)
