OK, this makes me feel somewhat better about being a T-Mobile customer.......


T-Mobile to ‘Stop the Bullshit’

Not minding his corporate manners, the CEO of the nation’s fourth-largest carrier announced that his company plans to take much better care of its customers than any of its rivals.

T-Mobile has officially killed the 2-year contract that is the norm of U.S. phone buying and leaves many consumers feeling like indentured texters. “Carriers are really nice to you ... once every 23 months,” said CEO John Legere, quoted by The Verge. T-Mobile will still let customers get a good deal on a new phone—the iPhone is coming in April and will cost $99 plus $20 a month for 24 months—but subscribers can walk away from the service agreement at any time.

Not only is Timo changing business models, it’s slashing prices. For $70 you will get unlimited talk, text and data, with a little bit of tethering. Compare that with $110 on Verizon for four gigabytes of shared data a month.

Aside from cost, T-Mobile deserves some credit for resisting government requests for private user data. Perhaps that’s owing to its heritage as a European-owned company. Of course such benefits have always been paired with, shall we say, not the best service. .............(more)

Verizon flatly denied turning over records to the government, but did not comment on whether MCI, which it had acquired in January, had done so.[29] But on October 12, 2007, the company admitted in a letter to the United States House Committee on Energy and Commerce that it had turned over customer information to the FBI and other federal agencies of the U.S. government approximately 94,000 times from January 2005 to September 2007, providing such information 720 times without being presented with a court order or warrant.[30]

you can turn the phone over to them, or continue to pay the $20/month until it's paid off. Under their plans, once the phone is paid for the $20/month fee ends.

I'm UK so don't easily relate to your side. After the $20/month fee ends I assume you just go out and and get another sim card and pay monthly for usage in some kind of bundle - that's what happens in the UK.

Good thing AT&T was stopped from taking them over.

T-Moblie was bleeding customers like crazy because they didn't have the iPhone.

Apple is going to make crazy money off of this, and T-Mobile will thrive.

On edit: I am tempted to jump ship from Verizon. I can get $370 for my lightly used iPhone 5 from Gazelle, which covers the $350 early termination fee.

Hmm... Probably won't, for now... But it's nice to see that the telecom criminals' contract schemes may be falling apart.

But that 'pig' Lohn Legere - is just that. He's also the guy that deliberately and maliciously assisted in the implosion of Global Double Crossing. They raided our pensions (old Rochester Tel), 401K's, and told everyone everything was great while at the highest levels they were engaged in 'swaps' on paper that amounted to nothing of value. Hmmmm- so he gets Level III going with the remnants of Global Crossing and now . . . he's with T-Mobile? It's called when the Tech/Telecom bubble burst.


I'm telling you - emotion aside? All this needs is Tom Casey's touch and T Mobile is going bye bye the way we know it.

Don't trust this guy. I mean - he actually used to come into the quarterly meetings up in Rochester NY thinking he was Gordon freakin Gekko! So you pay what? $59 up front and $29 a month every month for two years and this 'marketing scam' gets him kudos?


Any other folks in industry that want to discuss this - send me a PM.

I feel bad for those T-Mobile folks. If there is a way for him to steal from their retirement accounts while everyone is applauding him for this - he's doing it? Stop putting into your 401K's RIGHT this minute. He's also going to tell Walll Street that they are billing above board. Historically - this is not true. Whatever John Letcher says? It's opposite day.

Don't trust it. He's trying to f8ck over the employees and get his millions for running the company into the ground.

In the 6 years I've had my cell phone company the price has gone up pennies but my
cable bill has gone up nearly $36 and that is with cutting extras.
Have you ever asked a cable company to inventory your bill?!!! The drama; I thought the
representative was going to die on the spot.

and I would not have it any other way.....I live on social security and when I have had problems paying my T-Mobile bill T-Mobile has stood on its head keeping my service on
