AZ lawmaker suggests holiday for white people

Rep. Cecil Ash, a Republican from Mesa, is suggesting Arizona needs a holiday for white people.

"I wanted to speak to you all about Latino Americans here in Arizona," said state Rep. Richard Miranda on the House floor Monday, starting the conversation that sparked the controversy.

Miranda said Arizona should have a Latino American day in Arizona.

After some heated debate, Rep. Cecil Ash stepped up to the mic.

"I'm supportive of this proposition. I just want them to assure me that when we do become in the minority you'll have a day for us," Ash said.

Robert Burns Day(Burns was white), President's Day(Washington and Lincoln were white), St.Patrick's Day(Being Irish he must have been white)...and I'm sure there are more!

the fact that all American national holidays were holdays honoring white people, does not actually make them holidays "for" white people.

This is a great injustice and should be immediately remedied in law.

Once that is done, of course, we will not need to give them just one day off. They should get all federal holidays off (or with holiday pay).
