Now anyone who knows me here knows where I stand on gun rights (and many other rights from abortion to gay marriage to smoking in bars (but not hospitals/etc where people have to go))
The RW bandies about how guns are not the problem on the one hand and then in this case they say that guns ARE the problem (because...well...Obama).
Their problem is consistency. One day it is not guns, but when they can blame it on Obama and guns it is the guns.
And what is this? They are complaining those guns should have been tracked but when we have the UN introducing a small arms treaty to do just that you freak out? Should there have been, oh I dunno, some background checks that might have helped?

Yeah, how is that statement working out for you?
I favor state based background checks (with a federal backing/funding and a baseline that states adhere to). Keeping guns out of the hands of people who should not have them (based not on accusations but convictions). I don't see kids having guns as a huge problem, but lack of parental control as the bigger issue (same with pools, chemicals, etc - ie, watch your kids around dangerous stuff). I don't think judging the 99% of gun owners on the 1% is fair or productive.
Hard as it has been to defend my positions to some I try to stay consistent on my principles and not switch up on the issues based on hatred of politicians and other emotions.
And yet here we are AGAIN, like with Benghazi (how many died at embassies under bush again??), where people on the right switch up things and change their values based on their hate and being sore losers.
Keep the guns away from violent people and track them - both are things complained about today by the RW. Things many others have been saying for years but when we ask for some sensible (and that is the key word here) laws to do just that we get charged with wanting to grab guns (and sadly, some do want that).
