If a woman is already pregant, she cannot again while pregnant

That is the scientific concept behind how the Pill works. During pregnancy, specific hormones in specific amounts are secreted to carry the pregnancy to term; estrogen and progesterone. The estrogen will stop ovulation. Why would an egg need to mature and be fertilized when a pregnancy has already happened? The progesterone will prevent the uterine lining from building up. Again, in a natural pregnancy there is no need for that.

The hormones in the Pill are the same ones secreted in a normal pregnancy. That is how the Pill works. Ovulation in natural pregnancy will not occur and neither with the Pill. There is nothing wrong with the concept. If not naturally pregnant, but on the Pill, a woman does NOT ovulate. The problem isn't with the Pill, or the concept. Women can miss pills, take other meds, need a different dosage, etc. Thining of the lining? That occurs naturally during pregnancy, part of a woman's cycle, certain women, and also during breastfeeding. Besides lactation horomes, even breasteeding works in much the same way. Early and constant nursing, prevents ovulation and thickening of the lining. The newborn needs nourishment to stay alive. In nature, this is more important than another immediate pregnancy. Survival of species.

So they are trying to say, the Pill, like abortion, causes breast cancer. How? The woman is taking the very same hormones she has during pregnancy. Being pregnant causes cancer? As far as abortion "causing" breast cancer, what about women who have a miscarriage or stillbirth? If that were the case, wouldn't they be screaming about looking for ways to stop miscarriages? The vast majority of women probably have had a miscarrage, especially given that up to 50% of fertilized eggs don't implant, and in the very early weeks, a woman wouldn't know she had a miscarriage. They never talk about this. Or it's "god's" will and that prevents breast cancer? Sorry, if it works for one, it should work for another.

I am an old woman now. Did I miss something decades ago when I learned about the Pill? Sometimes I feel like I am living in 16th Century. Why in the world is this even an issue today? First they came after my abortion. Now they are coming after my contraception. I hope these religous ring wingers will like awakening this Sleeping Tiger. She is not going to very happy.

aren't just against abortion, they are against gay marriage and birth control most of the time, too. That's because it has nothing to do with abortion and everything to do with legislating morality. It's all the right has in its bag of tricks, since sane people realize they don't care one whit about human beings, only power and money.

Because they had higher dosages of estrogen. And high estrogen was linked to cancer, IIRC. But we're talking about 1960's era pills.

Current formulations don't have as much (or any) estrogen.
