"I'm Sorry, Speaker Boehner, Congressman-Elect Sanford Can't Do The Swearing-In On Thursday..."

"....he has a court hearing!"

This saga is unbelievable, and now he is going to be a freaking Congressman.

Tonight's results solidify one thing - Republicans never fail to amaze me by stooping so low, voting for a man that not only had an affair, but used taxpayer funds while in Argentina, and all the while NEVER telling ANYONE where he was!

Good job, South Carolina 1st District!

actually thinking he'd lose. Apparently that seat hasn't been Democratic in over 30(?) years.

I heard some commentary earlier today and the reporter said she'd spoken to some people who seriously weighed the issues -- were very unhappy with his behavior, but on the whole agreed more with him than Colbert Busch on policy.

God forgive me, but I hope he fucks up royally.

Republicans in South Carolina would vote for a dog turd as long as it had an (R) by the turds name. If you wanted proof here it is.

I didn't follow the race closely. Was his opponent really that bad?

Lyndon Johnson underestimated the length of the collective memory.

They have a persecution complex, are deeply tribal, and have a mean streak a mile wide.

They also have an intensity that burns white-hot, 24/7.

They obviously would prefer "one of their own" who is a philandering, adulterous lout, to a democrat..

Go figure..

I'm hoping he'll make an ass out of himself and the people will see the grave error they made.

When they see their distinguished Congressman-Elect standing in court, I hope they realize exactly what they did!

Because if it does then those who elected him feel they did a good job.

That's it, pissing off liberals/Democrats is the main aim of a great many conservatives/Republicans.
