Connecticut gun rights group smears father of boy killed at Sandy Hook

Connecticut gun rights group smears father of boy killed at Sandy Hook

A small Connecticut gun rights group gained attention on Wednesday after issuing a press release that smeared the father of a boy killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Connecticut Carry released a “rap sheet” of Neil Heslin, listing his multiple arrests for driving under the influence and conviction for felony narcotics possession. The group also published a document entitled “Neil Heslin’s Troubled Past,” which included lawsuits related to foreclosure, collection efforts, and child support.

“So often we find that the strongest critics of the right to bear arms are those people who cannot be trusted with firearms themselves,” the nonprofit group wrote it its statement. “A felon within arm’s reach of the president of the administration so dead set on background checks. No better testimony to how ineffective background checks are needs to be presented.”

Heslin has spoken out in support of stronger gun laws, including expanding criminal background checks and restricting high-capacity magazines. His appearances on TV and at legislative hearings have made him one of the more well-known relatives of the victims of the tragic school shooting, which left 20 young children and 6 adults dead.

They bring shame to this country. They ridicule the principles that this nation was founded on.

They rejoice at inflicting more pain and suffering on the families of Sandy Hook. They are evil, pure evil.

Thank you for bringing it to the forefront, Tx. It will make our resolve stronger!

Be it for a cause , something they might have accomplished in life...anything
It can be the media doing it , an opposition group etc...

It's happening to the guy that helped save the girl in Cleveland right now.

In the case of Mr. Heslin, I'm sure he'd much rather remain an anonymous father of a young and very much alive boy, and whatever past missteps in life he may have had in life would remain a private matter.

Unfortunately, that was forever changed one December morning. While many of us would love to be invited to the White House to stand beside the President, no one would ever want this to be the reason why.

And yet Mr. Heslin chose to be vocal despite the bullies and the cowards lurking in the shadows and licking their chops. And God bless him for it.

Arrested for insisting on wearing a handgun strapped to his waist in a pool hall when asked by the owner to put it away.

So, charges dropped, but still guilty of being an asshole. Mr. Slick Lawyer who believes he has a right to open carry in a K-12 school. Who believes he can create a public disturbance with his big loaded glock. The gun had a bullet in the chamber ready to fire! He's an asshole.

Same asshole, different day:
Police Called To Church After Gun Rights Activist Lodges Complaint Against Sen. Meyer, BB Gun

Gun rights activist calls police, demands investigation after Meyer and retired police officer use BB gun to illustrate points during gun control discussion at church.
According to Richard Burgess, the man who issued the complaint, both Meyer and Leary were in violation of a state statute 53-206 concerning the possession of a BB gun in public. Burgess cited the past arrest of Estelle Margolis, an 86 year-old woman who was arrested for bringing a BB to a town hall meeting.

"There are laws against people possessing and showing a BB gun in public," Burgess said. "At the very least, the officer should have been taken away in handcuffs," said Burgess. The Senator should have known better, these are the laws he helped to make."
