This amazing image was captured by Nolan Nitschke, 27 at Yosemite National Park he calls it Yosemites Rainbow Lightning. Copyright Nolan Nitschke/Caters News Agency.
A wave of thunderstorms and lightning strikes swept across Northern California this week.
The above photo by Nolan Nitschke, 27, at Yosemite National Park might be the most dramatic lightning photo Ive ever seen. The more you look, the more you see. Its so pretty, it looks like a painting.
The rain that came with the thunderstorms will minimize the danger of forest fires for a few weeks in the Sierra Nevada.
The peak time for thunderstorms is from mid-June to early July in the central Sierra, though they can erupt any time when conditions are right.

(22,271 posts)but I've always thought Yosemite looks like a picture post card anyway. As many times as I've been up there (I live nearby) I've never failed to stand in awe of the magnificent beauty of the place. As far as I'm concerned, it's unrivaled.

(20,729 posts)that image, or did he create it via selective enhancement a/o alterations?
photography currently seems to be producing hyper-realities that never existed in real life.
