will probably get you bitten.
When somebody goes before a House hearing and screams in answer to their questioning, "What difference does it make?", you can expect that a bite will be forthcoming.
A diplomat should know how to respond to any of their questions and soothe the waters, not act like Judge Judy or Judge Milian, who get paid for their theatrics.
Some of this stuff comes from the Rethugs getting "even" for embarrassing them, even tho they deserved it, and some of the White House troubles are from stepping on the tail of the NRA.
I am so saddened by what's happening to a really nice man, my President.

(10,044 posts)I think she did nothing wrong - but her lack of showing respect is part of what this problem is about, in my opinion. They DO have the right to ask questions even tho they are just trying to stir up trouble that isn't there. Provocation should have been avoided, for the President's sake if for no other reason.

(60,334 posts)What she was doing was being a leader and taking responsibility for the issue. One needs to watch the whole hearing to understand what she was saying and why she was saying it and not use sound bytes like the m$m.

(10,044 posts)She was praised by Democrats for the way she handled the hearings.
I was shocked, personally, and thought she really blew it until the reviews came out.
We can agree to disagree, but nothing will change my mind. Most people could not get away with that kind of response, and no one else even tries.
The very next day, Kerry was at a hearing, I suppose for his appointment, can't remember, and he apologized for her, saying something like, paraphrasing, Madame Secretary didn't mean that it didn't matter, blah blah, and put it in a nicer context. He apparently shared my feelings.

(53,032 posts)No one could have done better. Blaming her for the Republican shit stirring is absurd. They are targeting her because they see her as the likely presidential candidate for 2016.

(5,670 posts)shrill, too? First of all she wasn't screaming. Thunderous? Hmm. If a man- lets say Kerry- said the same words as Clinton, and they were described as "thunderous" I would lay down money that Inhofe wouldn't complain. After all, he didn't like that she was so forceful --FOR A WOMAN.
