Issa voted AGAINST legislation that would have protected the AP

Darrell Issa is outraged that the Department of Justice secretly obtained phone records through a subpoena of the AP's telecommunications provider. He's right to condemn the action, but as nycsouthpaw points out, it's worth remembering that Issa voted against legislation that would have protected the AP:

Issa was one of 21 House members who opposed the Free Flow of Information Act of 2007, a measure that would have forbidden federal investigators from compelling journalists to give evidence without first obtaining a court order. The bill included a section that specifically forbid subpoenaing journalists’ phone records from “communication service providers” to the same extent that the law protected the journalists themselves.

A shame the Republican appointees in the IRS ABUSED THEIR POWER and exhibited such skanky invasive "values"

Too bad the Republican office holders -- including ISSA, voted against legislation that would have prevented this abuse by Republican-appointed bureaucrats.

Republicans need to abandon their cesspool-based "values" and instead embrace American values -- like honesty, integrity, and honor.

since they prefer to spend more time wasting our time and money rather than legislate. By establishing how far the gov't could potentially go if RW loonies like him and Bachmann and others ran the whole show (see their defunding Acorn nonsense), then stuff like this might make them get up off their asses and do their job. I.e., whatever the President does, they always want to do the opposite, even if it is something that they supported or something that might impact the left - if he proposes it, they always say "no". His black face makes them go insane.
