Heavily Doctored Email Was Source Of Benghazi Cover-Up ‘Evidence’

The presumption that information was withheld in an attempted cover-up by the White House with regard to the attack in Benghazi came from a doctored email, as it turns out. Furthermore, reading the undoctored version shows a slightly different course of events — different enough to cast away any doubt. There was no cover-up.


In an “exclusive blockbuster” Benghazi scoop, ABC’s Jonathan Karl stated, “When it became clear last fall that the CIA’s now discredited Benghazi talking points were flawed, the White House said repeatedly the documents were put together almost entirely by the intelligence community, but White House documents reviewed by Congress suggest a different story.” The article was released with the title, “Exclusive: Benghazi Talking Points Underwent 12 Revisions, Scrubbed of Terror Reference.”

Unfortunately for him, the email text he released was doctored. The source of the doctoring is not currently known. The email text he reported is the following:

We must make sure that the talking points reflect all agency equities, including those of the State Department, and we don’t want to undermine the FBI investigation. We thus will work through the talking points tomorrow morning at the Deputies Committee meeting.
