Boehner Doubts DOJ Had Justification To Seize AP Phone Records
Saying he's hopeful that he'll receive a "clear explanation," House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) on Wednesday expressed skepticism that the Department of Justice had legitimate grounds to seize phone records from the Associated Press.
"Let me tell you I am very interested in and I'm hopeful that we're gonna get a clear explanation for why such unprecedented action was taken," Boehner said during a morning press conference. "It befuddles me that there could be some justification that would allow them to infringe on the First Amendment to the Constitution."
Attorney General Eric Holder on Tuesday said that the DOJ was acting in the interest of national security when it subpoenaed the AP in pursuit of leaks related to a CIA operation in Yemen. Those leaks, Holder insisted, "put the American people at risk."

Oh, there would be hell to pay if this happened under Bush...
"And agents twice improperly gained access to reporters calling records as part of leak investigations. "

"Improperly" defined as "based on nothing more than e-mail messages or scribbled requests on Post-it notes"
Now they're outraged about records being subpoenaed.
Why wasn't everyone who is outraged now outraged at the launch of the leak investigation?
