If you ask most of the extremist wing of the GOP why they're so outraged over the 'Benghazi talking points,' they'll blather about 'four Americans dead,' 'worse-than-watergate cover ups,' 'when Nixon lied no one died' etc. But all of this is really just rationalization for: A) their deep rooted hatred (up to and including racial hatred) for Barrack Obama, and B) their soreness over losing the last election.
Without realizing it, deep down, at lizard brain level they actually think that if Barrack Obama had said "A Terrorist Act" instead of "An Act of Terror" he wouldn't be President right now. That, if he'd changed three words in a Rose Garden statement it would have cost him the election, and the guy they harbor PRIMITIVE, VISCERAL HATRED for would now be gone.
All I can say is "REALLY?" You don't even REALIZE that this is what's driving the whole Benghazi freak show, and how unrealistic that scenario is? That if he'd changed a few words here and there when commenting about the Benghazi tragedy, OVER FIVE MILLION PEOPLE WOULD HAVE CHANGED THEIR VOTES?
These people have SERIOUS issues with cognitive dissonance.

It's pretty low to have to go to score political points.
I guess it remains to be seen if it works for them.

(5,955 posts)Because it obviously fed into the "Slick Willy" image they were trying to build of Clinton.
But this just appears to be feeding on itself. I can't believe the Republican Elites, with their poling machines and focus groups don't realize that the more they obsess over this, the more insane they look. I'm sure they're aware of it, but there's nothing they can do.
Boehner did his best to limit the damage from the Fast & Furious nonsense by scheduling Issa's silly CONTEMPT VOTE on Holder to coincide with the SCOTUS ruling on Obamacare, so that the vote would get buried by by the other news. Kudos to the GOP elite on that one, it was a slick move in the face of a no-win situation. Boehner realized the Holder Contempt vote would just be an EMBARRASSMENT to the GOP, and he's right. This is the same, but I don't think Boehner has any idea how to stop Issa on THIS one.

(52,328 posts)it's only a real scandal if it is, or really ought to be a crime. as if word choice in a presidential speech should be a crime. nevermind all the lies shrub et al. gave us to get us into war....
when republicans do anything remotely like this and democrats object, they whine about trying to scandalize or criminalize "policy differences".
