Or at least any more unfairly than the progressive groups that were targeted by name as well. It's just that cons have the apparatus in place to throw really loud tantrums when they choose to.

And yeah, not a peep out of them when it happens to someone else.

were they in fact singled out at all, or singled out based on something inappropriate? singling out blacks for pat-downs is inappropriate, but singling out avowed anti-taxers for scrutiny when granting tax-exempt status doesn't sound inappropriate.

those facts will hopefully come out, although likely be ignored by our pathetic media.

republicans certainly have (a) a huge martyr complex and (b) a huge megaphone.

But given what we know from the IRS report, it's going to be near impossible for them to make the case that only cons were targeted.

Is pulling applications for review based on keywords inappropriate? Meh, maybe. But as I've stated a few times, I'm at greater risk than most taxpayers for being audited simply because I'm self-employed. If that's fair, then I'm not sure that rooting out applications for tax-exempt status by names that sound political in nature is unfair.

it's and optional and unnecessary step. sure, an organization gains comfort and can plan better if the know for sure that the irs considers them tax-exempt, but if they're confident they're abiding by the tax code, then they can just go ahead and assume they are tax-exempt and defend it at an audit if it even comes up, like the rest of us do.

one could even go so far as to argue that the extra scrutiny meant the irs was volunteering extra clarity that they were denying other groups. if democrats had the propaganda machine republicans had, that would be a brilliant parry!

...if they'd bothered to inform themselves. lol If that doesn't sum up the way TPers operate, nothing does.

"if democrats had the propaganda machine republicans had"... They only drag their mics out around election time.

...Republicans resent minorities, which is also true.
