how to set up an anonymous, tax-exempt front for political activity:

simple:

1) flood the irs with applications for pre-certification of tax-exempt status;
2) let the irs rejected most of them;
3) funnel all your money through the few that they approve and close down the ones the irs rejected.

it's important to note that this "scandal" is all about *pre-*certifications for tax-exempt status, not post-activity enforcement.

i don't have proof that these organizations had common funding, but if a couple of ultra-rich billionaires (hmmm?) wanted to funnel money into politics by (ab)using this section of the tax code, this would be a good way to do it.
