If we can't stop the GOP from being dishonest, how do we effectively hold them accountable?

Why does it seem that we, as a party, are wholly incapable of getting our elected officials to register our collective outrage in a MEANINGFUL way? Why does it seem that the ReThugs are forever getting away with stuff while we are determined to take the so-called high road and be the adults? Great example is the POTUS' decision not to investigate Bush/Cheney et al but to put it behind us...now the bastards have the brass balls to show up on tv to criticize him and engage in the hyperbolic claim that what they falsely claimed happened in Benghazi rises to the level of Watergate. Now that they have been caught red-handed with their hands in the cookie jar, they don't even have the good grace to even feign shame????

When one of our party does something wrong, we drum them out. When their side does it, all they do is invoke the name of Jeebus and all is forgiven? I understand we are more ethical and conciliatory but for FUCK'S SAKE, its backfiring on us and has for many decades.

WHEN ARE WE GOING TO CHANGE WASHINGTON????? How can we? What are we doing wrong? This is not merely a rhetorical question, this is an earnest desire to stop this madness. We have the power to do it just in sheer numbers. But how?

he's going to try to please them. He refuses to hold them accountable, in fact the more horrid they become the more he insists it is our fault for not being bipartisan enough. He says he will not alter this method no matter what council he gets to do otherwise.
How can we fight that?

Meeting any powerful entity head-on is rarely a successful strategy. And saying that Obama blames Democrats for not being more bipartisan is inaccurate. Obama recognizes that things are not as black and white as the GOP news media likes to paint them.

and I'm not trying to be disagreeable, sincerely, but NOT meeting them head-on hasn't worked spectacularly well either. I just don't think we're going to get anywhere by using the same old tactics. It seems that we should at least TRY our hands at active and vocal outrage.

I don't know what the answers are obviously. We are going to have to start this discussion and it MUST begin on the citizen level. Why shouldn't a revolution, or at the very least a revival of a literal democracy, here at DU?

Right now you can work with GOTV, that would do the most good at this point.

Plus I am so glad they added this:

cuz that's how I feel 99% of the time...

I'm seriously considering becoming an ex-pat. I have dual citizenship so it would be easy...i feel hopeless at this point, and I am a confirmed optimist! I feel like we reached the point of no return during the Ronnie Raygun administration and its spiraling out of control.

Platform they can really get more voters with so their answer is attempting to discredit Democrats hoping either we stay home and don't vote or get so weak as to vote for their nuts. GOTV is going to have be front and center in our endeavors for the next elections. We can not let ourselves deny good decent Democrats an opportunity to serve this nation.

...they somehow STILL are calling the shots. Look at the TeaParty for a second; they are relatively few in numbers and yet somehow they wield enormous power--power enough to bring 37 efforts to the floor on dismantling ObamaCare, thwarting the very sane effort to have more stringent background checks for gun purchases, etc ad nauseum... the list goes on and on. This is a travesty!!

I mean, could you imagine having the equivalent of Michelle Bachmann in our party, let alone enabling her to sit on the House Intelligence Committee?

We're all angry about this kind of thing. Look at all the BS the GOP have come up with JUST about Benghazi (remember their assertion that Hillary FAKED a concussion to get out of testifying???). When are we going to let them know in no uncertain terms that this is not acceptable? Why can't we raise the bar enough so these asshats won't ever attempt this kind of shit again?
