Marine holding umbrella for Obama is from Apopka

Sam Previti says his son is taking a fair amount of good-natured ribbing for the photo, but doesn't see what all fuss is about.

"I think it's kind of petty," he said. "I don't think Nathan is getting any flak from the Marine Corps for what he did."

It's true that Marines are not supposed to carry umbrellas in certain uniforms. But Nathan Previti is assigned to a special unit in the White House that handles all kinds of ceremonial duties.

And, well, duty called.

"When you're asked to serve the president, you do whatever you're asked to do," Sam Previti said.
