Four American Citizens Killed In Drone Strikes Since 2009: Eric Holder

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/22/american-citizens-drone-strikes_n_3321950.html

WASHINGTON -- Attorney General Eric Holder says four American citizens have been killed in drone strikes since 2009.

The attorney general said that in conducting U.S. counterterrorism operations against al-Qaida and its associated forces, the government has targeted and killed one American citizen, Anwar al-Awlaki.

In a letter to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy, Holder says the U.S. is also aware of three other American citizens who have been killed in such counterterrorism operations over the same time period.

Pretty selective about when the President is allowed to direct him, and when he is not.

If they are willing to tell us they are killing Americans, no questions asked (hey we're the government.. trust us) and accidentally killing civilians I wonder how bad it really is.

"To this end, the president has directed me to disclose certain information that until now has been properly classified."

Does he feel that it is no longer properly classified? Are there more Americans that have been killed by drones, classified differently.

I find this quote by Holder to be strange. This is very limited information being released, and is being make to look like it is big. Not enough to make any judgments on the program. I personally feel that rwingers will read the names and jump for joy at their deaths. The names all have something in common. In no way does this appear to release the names of all Americans killed in drone strikes.

Yet there's ZERO outrage from the right. The point?

and that is exactly the point. No trial, no evidence, just "trust us he's a bad guy". Well, I'm sorry, the government has not done much to earn any "trust" from me. I have been lied to and cheated quite enough thank you.

The very basis that this country is founded on is the right to a trial, the right to see evidence, the right to face your accuser in a court of law. We have thrown "proven guilty" out the window for "trust us".
