BELLEVILLE, IL Boys on a sports team at Althoff Catholic High School have been accused of making unauthorized video recordings of female students at the school.
Althoff staff notified Belleville police on May 3 about the allegations, according to a police statement.
Police said school officials learned of the alleged recordings on May 1.
Police are working with the St. Clair County state's attorney's office to obtain cellphones or other devices that may have been used in the recordings.

In high school we can't expect them to behave with respect toward girls and women.
And girls will need to handle being "targeted" because that is what boys do.

It became a joke in the "Smallville" TV series, when the teenage "Superman" found out he had x-ray vision and could peep into the girls' locker room, just a couple years ago.
And who can forget "Porky's."

(25,183 posts)It's considered harmless fun in pictures like "Porky's" and "Revenge of the Nerds". Being as I don't watch too many films aimed at teenagers, it wouldn't surprise me that the attitudes towards being a Peeping Tom in those movies are still being portrayed in recent movies.
We don't change the culture until we change (preferrably by market forces) the content of our entertainment.

(Although a couple years ago I read of some teenage girls who were peeping on the boys!)

We have no chance at all of stopping or even limiting this sort of sexism until we stop treating it as some kind of joke.
