It is being reported today that the Center For Economic Policy and Research has released a study that states that the United States is still the only developed nation that does not have federally mandated paid vacation. According to the study Japan has the second lowest number of mandatory paid vacation days with 10. In Austria, a new worker gets 22 days paid vacation, which goes up to 49 days if the worker stays with the company for six years.
How would mandatory paid vacation days work in America? Would the current system of first come first serve, were if you request a particular day, but someone else already requested that day you have to pick another, be kept?
