(130,895 posts)Unfortunately as informing an electorate that would rather not spend its time on factual matters and is highly subject to repug propaganda are heavy tasks, Dems will be perceived by many as underdogs (until next census???)

(11,464 posts)and of course, like Lincoln, President Obama is working to unite America, regardless of the congress,
so that 80-20 will be the course.
People themselves will love President Obama's health care (I personally have already saved $19,200 out of pocket as a self employed 100% thanks to President Obama's plan) and people are all of America.
That the extremists in office don't like it, well, easy enough in 2014 and 2016 to render them politically obsolete at the voting booth, if they don't change their tune because the people will see how great it is in California and how great it is in NY and everywhere else and want it for themselves.
imho
LBJ once said "If tomorrow I walked across the Potomac River, the press would say LBJ don't know how to swim".
Same holds true with President Obama.
Life could be 100% great for everyone, and 20% will always find something to complain about.

Until then -- I would say they are complicit in the hypocrisy.

(11,464 posts)Look at South Carolina
Colbert-Busch lost because only 33% of the people voted total.
So that the extremist Sanford who beat her, won by 7.
IMHO, every vote that could have shown up but didn't might have been the more than 7% to get her elected.
When people don't bother to vote, when people protest, when people for whatever do whatever,
that let's the extremist win
An extremist can not get 40%(let alone 50%) of 100%.
However, an extremist can win when only 30-40% of the total number win
(meaning-had in Wisconsin enough people came out and voted against Walker,
Walker never would have won...same in all the other states.
And it takes Democratic voters to 100% come out and vote straight democratic.
Legally, constitutionally, people can do what they want.
