Tacoma and Olympia on Monday, which is the same day Gov. Gregoire signs the bill legalizing gay marriage! Should be interesting!

Is your part (or all of) Idaho pretty red?

Have fun in Spokane!

It's redder than red. And South Idaho (aka North Utah) is even worse.

Check this shit out: Idaho's Democratic senators, of which we have, IIRC, less than ten, dropped a bill into the hopper this session that would add sexual orientation to the list of things you can't discriminate against. Today, the president of the state senate got up and said that while he sympathized with the gay and lesbian population of Idaho, he wasn't going to let the bill enter into debate because it offends his personal religious sensibilities.

IOW he doesn't have all that much sympathy.

We ran the AP story, which says one Republican Senator Russ Fulcher, who is the Majority Caucus Vice Chairman (I was led to believe he was the president pro tempore--that guy is named Brent Hill, and apparently he's even worse) "said he respected activists' wishes...(but) opposed allowing the measure to advance to a public hearing because such changes were at odds with his fundamental beliefs."

MY fundamental belief is that if one of these two Powerball tickets I'm holding takes the big pot tonight, I can be the fuck out of this state by the end of next week. The state of Washington isn't perfect but it's a hell of a lot better than Idaho--hell, they even managed to approve gay marriage there, although the far, far right in the middle of the state will probably have a citizen initiative on the November ballot.

The rally is at the Hagadone Events Center out at Mr. Hagadone's golf course. It was designed so you can just wash the place out with a fire hose if need be.
