The President will make an award to Al Pacino....

Al Pacino is among the honorees who will receive the 2011 National Medal of Arts from President Barack Obama on Monday in a ceremony at the White House.

The event, held at the East Room, will be live streamed on the White House website.

Pacino, who starred in Dog Day Afternoon, The Godfather trilogy and Scarface, will receive the medal "for his contrbutions as an actor and director to American film and theater." The veteran was cited for being "an enduring and iconic figure" and "has become one of the most outstanding and accomplished American artists."

Other honorees for the National Medal of Arts include painter Will Barnet, poet Rita Dove, curator/philanthropist Emily Rauh Pulitzer, sculptor Martin Puryear, music vet Mel Tillis, pianist Andre Watts and the United Service Organization.
