Your donations to charity may be helping more than just those in need. With the help of federal tax filings, a recent study revealed the 50 worst charities in the U.S. based on how much the organizations’ fundraisers pocket versus how much is actually contributed towards their specified causes.

The Center for Investigative Reporting and the St. Petersburg, Fla., Tampa Bay Times studied 6,000 charities tax records that utilize the services of paid fundraisers only to uncover that 50 U.S. charities gave an alleged 11 cents or less on the dollar for each donation. According to a report from MSN, some of the flamed charities have been previously cited by the Better Business Bureau for their controversial distribution of profits.

giving it to my elderly Mother, who probably has donated to every single one of these organizations over the years. She has dementia and I can't stop this, but I keep trying.

I am so disappointed in the Cancer Fund of America! I have always talked them up! They ship lots of things to us free of charge for our non-profit hospice families.

when he started crying about the poor charity CEO only making $200,000 a year.

I don't really believe that some people have $600,000 talent. Although, I am sure the rich SOBs who make $600,000 a year want to tell themselves, and sell all of us plebes on the idea that they DO have $600,000 talent.

This guy is just sorta giving another version of "Atlas shrugged". That charity is not effective because we don't pay enough to give the Atlases the incentive to save us all.

To me, that is an idea worth flushing down the toilet.
