Polls Show Highest Confidence In Economic Recovery In A Year

According to Gallup's Economic Confidence Index, economic confidence hit its highest point in a year. The index measures both belief in current strength in economy and confidence the economy will improve. Since January, Gallup notes, the index has risen quickly because Americans' economic outlook is improving:

The pronounced increase in economic confidence so far in 2012 is largely driven by a sharp increase in consumers' feelings about the U.S. economy's future direction. The percentage of Americans saying the economy is "getting better" increased to 42% last week, while the percentage saying it is "getting worse" fell to 54%.

In a poll yesterday, Rasmussen turned up similar results. Their survey showed a small plurality of Americans, 37%, believe the economy will be better next year. That's it's highest point since September 2010.
