Real simple task here people.
Good man - stand up guy - whom main stream is now ostracizing.
Please help "Like" Jesse Ventura's Facebook Page?

(18,402 posts)I lived in Minnesota when Jesse Ventura was inexplicably elected governor. Thank heavens we moved to M assachusetts the following year. ( And, no ... That's not saying anything about Mitt Romney. Thank heavens we also moved from there a year later, too.)
I wouldn't like JV's Facebook page if you paid me.

(62,325 posts)Navy Seal, actually put himself on the line for his country. It's funny to see the armchair 'support the troops' types, when one of the troops has a mind of his own. I guess they like them at a distance, looking like 'warriors'. But when they step out of line and think for themselves? No Sir, that is not acceptable! He earned the right to exercise his Constitutional right to express his opinions, or so he was probably told.

(30,947 posts)He is a great guy in my opinion.

(56,582 posts)He was on a boats crew that infiled and exfiled actual SEALs.

(62,325 posts)The Vietnam Service Medal. He didn't hide in the NG like Dubya, and didn't seek five deferments. like Chaney. He is a Navy Veteran who the flag wavers claim to support until they start thinking for themselves. Six years in the Navy from '69 to '75 qualifies him as a Veteran. Thanks for proving my point.
He gave up six years of his life in the service of his country. That qualifies him as someone who has earned the right to take advantage of the freedoms he was told he was ready to fight for. i guess it's okay to take advantage of those rights so long as you agree with ME!! Frankly I don't care if he agrees with me or not, he earned the right to express his opinions in this democracy.

(24,853 posts)He was UDT. It SEAL training is another 26 weeks on top of UDT training. Ventura never went through that. And he never saw a day of combat in the whole time he was in Vietnam. Witness his lack of a Combat Action Medal. More than a few SEALs have spoken out about his claims and their lack of respect for him.

(62,325 posts)He was there in the middle of the Vietnam War and clearly was not trying to avoid it. I doubt he had any say in the orders he was given. Unlike some of our most illustrious leaders, he didn't apply for five deferments or go AWOL from the NG.
But hey, like I said, 'support the troops until they take you at your word about the 'freedoms' they are ready to fight for and you say something THEY don't like, then watch how they toss those troops overboard.
Anyone who gave up six years of their lives to defend this country, as they believed they were doing, is a better person than most of the War Criminals who did everything they could to avoid putting themselves in the position of possibly getting shot at. I doubt he was giving the orders as to where he would be sent but clearly he was ready to go wherever he was needed.

(20,176 posts)don't believe it when it says it's an independent raven.
Lots of libertarians and conservatives like to claim to be "independent". They've destroyed the credibility of their brand, so now they have to deny it.

(794 posts)This wack-job that claims Obama has re-education fema camps? That "good man" is a slime-ridden, lying antigovernment loon with delusions of an intellect. Having an open mind doesnt include giving your brain to the guy with glib rejoinders about the evil Obama does. More Evidence of the Obama Derangement Syndrome at work among some DU "members".

Finally, on the snide - naysay of Jesse Ventura
You should be ashamed.
The man stands tall for what he believes and main stream is attacking him
(even making sure they don't film him)
When (in a short while) - I bring forth my Racketeering Complaint against Romney & Gang;
he and those who benefit/ benefactors - are going to attack me in full force.
Think back to this day - and remember - when that battle comes.
Don't be the tool of the RWNJ ghouls;
simply because one is an "easy" target of mob mentality...

(20,900 posts)reasons that have already been stated in this thread. However, to my memory, he did not appoint a conservative, or anyone else, to Wellstone's seat after his sudden death. Norm Colepuke (uh, sorry, I meant Coleman) was already running as his republican opponent and the election was only a few weeks after Wellstone't plane crash; Walter Mondale was tapped by the Dems to replace Wellstone on the ballot. Coleman won the election (gag, choke, bleh!), he was not appointed by Ventura. And the only reason he won, to my mind, was the hatchet job the wingers and the media did on Wellstone's memorial service and Coleman's barely-concealed grave-dancing.

(20,900 posts)was it to serve for the two and a half months between Wellstone's death and the Jan. swearing-in of Coleman? I hadn't known that, disgusting.
