Drugs are a part of life, alcohol is a part of life, neither is going away.

I take narcotic pain medication and mix them with alcohol because they work better that way and because it feels good. Millions of people do this. Yes some of the people who do this can and will die from it. It's life, and these people all over the cable news are now pretty much screaming "you people need to stop living life cause you could die from it."

I didn't say I was stoned ALL THE TIME, for pete's sake! As for running out, clue: I live in Humboldt County, California. I'll only "run out" if I choose to. Obviously there are times when I don't smoke pot daily-- when traveling, for example, or at multiday meetings (usually). No, I'm not miserable. Hell, I'm generally pretty happy. I have a fine life!

I remember being in samadhi as a child. I didn't know what was happening but I just felt so blissful. At a certain point the world creeps in. I just know that drugs are not the answer. What you probably should do first is to detoxify your body. Then you'll start to feel better emotionally so you won't need that shite.

Makes it somewhat easier to get waaay too drunk because you don't puke as readily when you're already stoned.

That's why pot is often effective for chemo, it really does suppress the vomiting reflex, people do vomit up large doses of pain meds sometimes too.

Personally I don't like pain meds or alcohol much but I know a lot of people who do, I don't mind getting stupid sometimes but not quite as stupid as downers and booze make me.

I am not an expert by far and I don't do drugs. Well, except for caffeine and I really should give that up because it is effecting my health. Any who. Doing prescription drugs and alcohol is fairly dangerous, because some scripts compound each other it isn't just adding one to the other it is like multiplying them to the 4th power.

about multiplying to the 4th power. I made the mistake. Once. It was after my first c-section. I was sent home with some presription pain pills (mild ones, tylenol 3's w/codeine I think) and after having my pain pills my parents opened some champagne to celebrate the arrival of their first grandchild. I had half a glass and instantly passed out on the couch. Everyone assumed I was just tired from being up with the baby and was having a nap. I didn't wake up for a few hours. When I came to, my mom was like "Did you have a good nap? Baby's hungry!" and I was like, "I don't think that was a nap, I think I shouldn't have had that champagne!" We just weren't thinking. I can't even imagine something *harder* than those 2 things and the effect they would have. gawd.

usually so charming and friendly. I mean, you normally don't have an ill word to say. Not like some DUers who come on here and act like total jerks to everybody and cannot say something without being aggressive and patronizing. No, you are usually a ray of sunshine and never say something ugly just to get involved in a fight. I have a friend who has actually done her doctorate thesis on internet etiquette. She is a professor at a university in Great Britain and she gets interviewed on BBC all the time. Anywho, she talks about this phenomenon where people act like total assholes on the internet when they would never be like that in real life. Its a way to vent aggression 'anonymously'. It leads people to be rude and obnoxious to strangers on message boards because they feel safer. I have really noticed how you are so NOT like that!

Have a nice day!!

As long as you don't do that and drive or operate heavy machinery...eh. That's between you and the people who love you. I eat fast food...way too much fast food. It WILL shorten my life eventually. I know that. What can I say? I have that McDonald's monkey on my back. Whose business is it? Mine. And the people who love me. That's about it.

I know my intake increased...
PTSD or something-
Thank goodness for DU back then-

Just be careful with your liver-RB.

The pain killers and alcohol can do serious liver damage together
over a long period of time.

We've lost too many great DUers over the last decade-
don't want to lose you too!

No judgement- only
