A tragic fire that killed a dog breeder and her dogs.

For the past 15 years, Beaudry had been breeding dogs through Topnotch Kennels out of her home in Glaslyn. She lived in a large house - 1,800 square feet on the top floor alone - that had once been the local RCMP barracks. The ample space allowed her to keep dozens of Yorkshire terriers and Pomeranians in the house.

Forty-one dogs died, most likely from smoke inhalation, during the Sunday afternoon fire. The concrete-reinforced house apparently prevented the flames from spreading to parts of the main floor from the upstairs.

"Her life revolved around the dogs and that's what she wanted," said Mike.

"She was the captain of the ship and I'm sure she went down trying to save them," Mike added.

From the article:

"Her dogs were pampered beyond belief. She would spend hours grooming them. They had heating pads and their own dog beds. Sometimes she put bows in their hair."

I wonder if a heating pad caused the fire?
