Pa. waxing salon fires employee for refusing Brazilian waxing

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/07/01/spa-worker-fired-brazilian-wax_n_3531367.html#next_slideshow

A Western Pennsylvania woman has sued the Pittsburgh waxing salon that employed her, claiming she was fired after refusing a Brazilian wax treatment as part of her training.

In the lawsuit filed in federal court last week, Jennifer Finley, 35, says a corporate trainer from her waxing chain, the European Wax Center, told her and her colleagues in October that they would have to perform the bikini wax treatment on one another. After declining, Finley says she was immediately terminated.

One would think that if this is a job requirement, they'd tell you at the interview.

the headline was kind of confusing and i was wondering if they were fired for not doing the bikini waxes on customers who wanted it.

that you'll be paid to inflict on others? Tough crap if you lost your potential job causing insecure women to suffer for "beauty".

Give each other enemas? Put each other in casts and forced to lie in traction? Give each other x-rays? Catheterize each other? Give each other shots of morphine?

You think real estate agents in training should be forced to allow their own homes to be sold to one another?

You think autobody workers in training should be forced to crash each others own cars so they can fix them?

You think dentists in training should be forced to yank out each others teeth?

You think firefighters in training should be forced to burn each others houses down so they can put them out?

You think plumbers in training should be forced to clog up each others toilets so they can unclog them?

You think you can understand how epically fucking stupid your post is yet?

your genital fur yanked out by the roots.

How about you give me a massage, and I pour wax on your particulars and rip out your genital forest by the roots, um kay?

And you and I know that the moment your read about having your genital hair yanked out by the roots your asshole slammed shut and your family jewels torpedoed up into your chest cavity.

Hair grows back in.

I guess I'm not as down with the waxing thing as you are. I just think it's stupid to remove in such a brutal way something that nature put there in the first place. To do it for the god of "beauty" is even more foolish.

This woman wants a job that involves inflicting needless pain on insecure people, why shouldn't she know what it feels like from their side? It's supposed to be harmless, right? Not like getting your house burned down or your car wrecked, or any of the other silly examples you came up with.

I find waxing to be medieval in nature, it rips out hair at the roots, causing enormous pain. The fact that it is done for "beauty" makes it all the more repulsive to me.

Your mileage may vary.

On the one hand, employees are being asked to expose themselves to each other, which is problematic but on the other, this is kind of like having cops tazer each other so they know what it is like to be tazed.

People who seek out a Brazillian wax are doing so voluntarily - not so with people Tasered by police.

You pretty much have to be a guinea pig for the other students, just as they are for you. It's part of the learning process.

Having said that, I do not think you should be required to allow your coworkers access to your most intimate body area against your will. Nor do I think you should be requirered to submit to waxing of this area if you don't want it. If you have to get training to be certified to complete the procedure, all involved should be volunteers.

30 seems to be the cutoff age. Above that age, a Brazilian is more rare. Below that age, Brazilian is common.

That's exactly the time porn became easily accessible through higher speed internet. Shows you how influential porn is.

PS She should not be forced to have a Brazilian, that shit looks painful.
