Meet The Next Governor Of Texas

Greg Abbott, AG. As far to the right as Perry, but not stupid. And a smart wingnut is worse than a stupid one.

<snip>

Abbott is popular with both grassroots tea party activists and mainstream conservatives in the GOP-dominated state. He already has raised a whopping $18 million in campaign funds, even without officially announcing his candidacy.

<snip>

He has used the attorney general's office to constantly sue the Obama administration over everything from its signature health care reform law to environmental regulations to federal voting rules.

An avid defender of gun rights and fierce opponent of abortion, Abbott champions social conservative causes but also is seen as a strong fiscal conservative.

"He gets what he wants which is to be governor, but he was able to do it without alienating one of the most popular politicians in the history of the state," Jones said. "Now the pathway between him and the governorship is a clear shot. There's nothing standing in the way, and he created no ill will between himself and Perry."

and will win.

Imagine if LBJ said he couldn't and didn't?
Imagine if Ann Richards said she couldn't and didn't?
Imagine if Barack Obama said he couldn't and didn't?

Imagine if the little engine train said it couldn't get up that hill and didn't even try

Texas will turn blue

Positivity helps

When LBJ was active in politics, democrats DOMINATED Texas politics.

When Ann Richards was active in politics, it was the tail end of that domination. Just who did she lose to, hmm?

Barack Obama lost Texas twice- by double digits.

This isn't Peter Pan. You can't just clap your hands and make Wendy Governor.

from the article in the op:

<snip>

Hispanics have accounted for nearly 90 percent of Texas' population growth in recent years, meaning demographics may soon no longer be on Republicans' side - but the shift almost certainly won't come in time to affect next year's elections.

<snip>

Interactive Map: How Texas Drifted Right in 2012

Speculation abounds at the possibility that Texas one day will become a swing state — or even a blue state. But if there is anything to learn from President Obama's performance on Election Day, it's that he wasn't nearly as strong in the state as in 2008. Texans supported Mitt Romney by wider margins than they supported U.S. Sen. John McCain four years ago.

Obama took one of the biggest dives in Travis County. In 2008, Obama won the county with 117,036 votes. In 2012, he again won the county, but with 92,037 votes, a 24,999-vote swing. In Tarrant County, a Republican stronghold, Romney netted 22,357 more votes than McCain did in 2008.

Yeah, Texas will turn blue, but demographic studies tell us that won't happen for at least 10 years.

Now you post some evidence that Texas will turn blue next year.

and they are the reason Hillary will win, and the democratic party will win everything starting in 2014.

If Wendy was only down by so little statistically (and most don't know her yet), it means it is winnable.

Raw demographic numbers.

Throw all the stats of old out the window

A new day is dawning and sooner rather than later.

If Wendy Davis, someone 38% of the public in last weeks poll in Texas did not know, is just
-11 to 50%,
then only 11% of the 38 (which means only 3 in 11 need to vote for her

it also means if the republican only has 53, only -3 of those 53 need to switch

at which point the republican is under 50, and anyone can win

Negativity killed the cat is how the old slogan went I think.

Never say never

Just do it.

I am sure 100% of every democratic supporter wants a democratic governor.

And BTW- Ann Richards, was a major Bill Clinton supporter.
And Ann Richards was highly popular in Texas
Therefore Texas will highly vote for Hillary Clinton.

If Texans ever get tired of aiding and abetting their slide into third world status, they can vote D. I hope Wendy Davis runs so that they have a good alternative on the ballot. Otherwise I guess they can watch their football and basketball games and keep their heads in the sand...Same goes with all the other states being run into the ground by Tealiban.

"against their own interests" as a poster above said, their vaunted numbers aside. PERRY can slash all social programs yet go around with a smile and a hug and they break out mariachis for him. They love home grown white boys who used to party across the border, the BUSHes. They loved Shrub. Jeb Crow Shrub is also smarter and therefore more dangerous than Shrub. George PEE Shrub doesn't have the so-called "charm" but is already in the process of plucking from the public trough with his first statewide office.
