Not everybody adjusts well to life outside the USA, but if you keep busy, keep an open mind, and stay out of trouble, I predict you'll be fine.

My dad was an ex-Pat for 44 years. He came back to the USA when he retired. However, he was working for an American company earning dollars. What's your situation? I'm sure there will be a community of ex-Pat Americans you can hook up with socially if you get homesick.

15. We built a house in Otavalo Ecuador.

It is paradise. All we have left to do is clean the house out here in the states of 30 years of crap, rent it and off we go!

It has been so interesting listening to all the hate on Latin America posts in the last weeks on DU.

"Latin America is a cyst on the anus of the world." by some rocket scientist. Good for chuckles. And wonderful to know that we don't need to worry about jerks like that infesting our beautiful corner of the world.

I have never regretted this decision for a second.
