This Snowden-NSA story is starting to look like a game during the past few days.

IMO, it was probably determined earlier how, where and when he would be given asylum. It looks like what is going on now is just creating more mystique to attract us for PR purposes. According to news stories, he has been staying in some expensive places and is apparently not hurting for money. Private jets to transport him to his place of asylum will cost a lot for the group(s)/governments working with him in this project that is starting to look like a propaganda war : Snowden & associates vs the US.

1. A comparison: Snowden vs Other Guy.

Other Guy worked for military intelligence.
Snowden was briefly in the military. Then worked for NSA intelligence.

Other Guy fled to Moscow.
Snowden fled to Hong Kong then Moscow.

Other Guy provided Moscow no useful information.
Snowden provided no information everybody did not already know.

Moscow wanted nothing to do with Other Guy.
Moscow and Hong Hong want nothing to do with Snowden.

Other Guy tried joining numerous Leftist organizations, but was rejected as being too obviously a fake.
The Left has embraced Snowden (this is where the comparison falls apart).

Other Guy turned out to be a CIA plant in Moscow.
The jury is still out on Snowden.










Hopefully, Snowden never returns to the United States and gets a job in a Texas schoolbook depository.

3. I'm more an Occam's Razor guy than a Conspiracy Theorist.

But this does sound very much like the sort of thing Breitbart/O'Keefe would have done.

And we know that Occupy, the subsequent Arab Spring, and rising unrest in much of Europe has Rightists concerned. With Snowden not actually providing us anything we did not already know and acting a bit over the top at times like a parody of the Left (and Rightists seriously do believe that is how we behave), it sounds very much like something Power would do as well.
