Well it took 22 months and ten days, two strategic emails BUT - THE LONGEST weekend of my life is over. Yes folks I have a JOB. It is at 360 Mediawatch a media monitoring company - I'm going to be the utility man - some video editing, program logging, and later on probably some spreadsheet work. Its provisional - when I get up to speed and if I don't screw anything up - which I WON'T - I'm a go. In the words of President Bartlett - Okay what's next!

Congrats!

What's next is that things will get amazingly easier and you will remember the 22 months with new gratitude.
Thumbs up my friend!

(1,977 posts)The last 22 months has taught me humility, that yes I can survive, and that the Buddhists are right - ALL things are temporary. I know that there are people a lot worse off than me so it ain't so bad for me - "I complained because I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet."

(14,524 posts)It took me almost 5 years to finally find work, so I know exactly what you are feeling. Mine started as partime, 20 hrs a week, and I just got bumped up to 35 three weeks ago. Got my fingers crossed that very soon I make the transition from the temp agency that is technically my "employer," to a fulltime, regular for the place I actually work at.
Those of us that have survived that hell that is being long term unemployed, know just how devastating it is to every aspect of your life, not the least of which is your self-image.
Your good news is the highlight of day. Now get out there and dazzle 'em!

(1,977 posts)I hope you get full time. This new job is "temp/probationary" but I'm working for the company and not a temp agency. I just got my New York State security guard license - yeah I went with that option figuring I needed another possibility. So if this thing tanks I do have that choice.
